What is Ip6 (inositol hexaphosphate)?
Ip6 (inositol hexaphosphate) also known as myo-inosol hexaphosphate and phylic acid is a naturally occuring substance found in foods such as cereals, legumes, nuts, seeds. IP6 is the primary energy source for the germinating plant. Although the exact mechanism is not yet known,Ip6 inhibits the production and activity of cancer-causing free radicals and slows the abnormal rate of cells division that defines cancer and tumor growth allowing cells to normalize and grow once again in controlled manner
Ip-6 protects the heart by reducing cholesterol and triglycerides (fatty acid that circulate through the bloodstream) as well as preventing blood clots,a major cause of heart attack. It prevents and treat kidney stones by slowing the formation and growth of the kidney stone nucleus.IP6 also protects the liver by preventing the accumulation of fatty deposits in the liver also known as cirrhosis.
Animal studies have shown that inositol hexaphosphate is very safe and without toxic effects even when administered long term and at high doses. Regarding toxicity in humans there is no apparent toxicity known. But due to its strong binding affinity for minerals,IP6 should be taken seperately from meals, mineral supplements, and vitamins containing minerals to prevent the potential deficiency that may result.
Professor Shamsuddin recommend that people without a history of cancer consume about 2 mgs of IP-6/day.Those in a higher risk category should get 2 to 3 times that amount.People with existing cancer need to consume about 5 to 8 g daily to reap disease-reverting benefits.Ideally, says Samsuddin, you should take IP6 supplements in two doses/day preferably after meals. For a good source of IP6 try the Total balance of Xtend-life. Total Balance, in fact, is an extremely potent multi-nutrient health supplement that contains almost 70 different ingredients, which include various vitamins, minerals, amino acids, speciality nutrients, enzymes, and herbal extracts.
